Fearless Birth Starts Here

I look forward to getting to know you.

Hello! I'm Sam

Founder of Sound Birthing + Creator of the Mind-Body, Birth™ approach to fearless birth.

I created Sound Birthing because many people are taught what to expect in birth, but not how to navigate it when things feel intense or uncertain. Or they are given a one size fits all approach and told to fit themselves into it. Or they aren't told anything at all.

Fear doesn’t disappear through positivity or planning alone. It changes when people understand how birth works, how their body responds to stress, and what actually helps them stay grounded.

My work centers preparation that is flexible, practical, and responsive to real people — not ideal scenarios.

How I Approach this Work

I’m a psychologist, clinical social worker, and sexual health educator with a PhD in Psychology. My research and professional training focused on improving birth experiences through science-backed, trauma-informed care — and that same lens shapes every Sound Birthing offering.

Across my work, I blend:

  • nervous-system–aware education

  • relational, consent-centered frameworks

  • reflective tools that support self-understanding

  • and practices that honor both evidence and lived experience

Sound Birthing is not about doing birth “the right way.”

It’s about preparing in ways that help fear have less control — and help people stay grounded when it matters most.

"I approach this work with a goal of balancing traditional wisdom, current research and lived experience."

As a queer, 3rd-generation Ashkenazi person with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, married to an Anishinaabe person, I understand how culture, health, and history shape needs — especially around birth, care, and support.

That lived experience informs how I approach inclusivity, consent, and preparation across all Sound Birthing programs.
