For Birthers

You don't have to know where birth is going to know where you stand.

Birth is unpredictable. Preparing for it doesn't mean predicting every turn.

You can understand what's happening in your body. You can learn what helps you feel safe. You can explore what matters to you, ask better questions, practice tools that work for you, and prepare for decisions you can't predict yet.

Preparation isn't about controlling what happens.

It's about knowing yourself, understanding what's happening, and having somewhere to go when things change.

Start Here

Start by understanding birth—and yourself.

Mind-Body, Birth® is comprehensive, whole-person birth preparation designed to help you understand what's happening during birth while discovering what you might need as you move through it.

You'll learn about birth physiology, your nervous system, comfort and coping, communication, feeding, postpartum, sexuality, decision-making, and the emotional and relational parts of birth that are often left out of traditional childbirth education.

But you won't just sit and learn.

Through interactive activities and journaling prompts, you'll build your own personalized birth toolkit as you go.

You'll explore how your body responds to different sensations and practices. You'll notice what helps you feel safe, grounded, connected, or supported. You'll think about what matters to you, what you need from the people around you, and how you might navigate moments when birth changes direction.

By the end, you won't have someone else's list of the “right” ways to give birth.

You'll have information, practices, questions, and tools—and a better understanding of the person who will actually be giving birth: you.

Know Yourself

Before you make a birth plan, get to know the person making it.

It may seem easy to start preparing for birth by just writing a plan for what you want to happen.

Birth Map™ takes a step back and starts with you.

Through guided workbooks, reflection prompts, and activities, you'll explore your patterns, values, boundaries, support needs, and the things that help you feel safe—or make it harder to feel like yourself.

You'll also learn enough about yourself to think beyond the birth you're hoping for. What happens when something doesn't go according to plan? What helps you handle disappointment, difficulty, or an unexpected change in direction? What do you need from the people around you when things get hard?

The goal isn't to figure out the one “right” birth for you.

It's to understand yourself well enough to recognize what matters, communicate what you need, make choices that fit you, and navigate the difficult moments when what happens isn't what you hoped for.

Birth Map™ isn't a birth-plan template.

It's the work that happens before the birth plan—the part where you figure out what you actually want that plan to reflect, while preparing for the possibility that birth may have other plans.

Navigate Decisions

When things change, find your next step.

You can't make every decision about birth ahead of time.

Sometimes something changes quickly. You're overwhelmed. You're being given new information. What you thought you wanted doesn't feel right anymore. Or there are suddenly several things happening at once and you're not sure what to do next.

Birth Compass™ gives you a simple way to re-orient in the moment.

Using the P.O.G.S. framework—Pause, Orient, Ground, Step—you'll learn how to slow the moment down, notice what's happening in your body and around you, reconnect with what's important to you, and identify one next step.

It doesn't tell you what choice to make.

It helps you get grounded enough to make the choice that's in front of you.

You can use Birth Compass™ in any birth setting, return to it as often as you need, and share it with the people supporting you so they can help you find your bearings without taking over.

You don't need to know exactly where birth is going. You just need a way to find your next step.

Practice Makes Prepared

Don't wait until birth to practice finding your bearings.

Birth Compass: Fieldnotes is a 90-day notebook designed to help the Birth Compass™ framework become second nature before you need it.

Each day gives you a simple, low-pressure opportunity to practice Pause, Orient, Ground, Step through brief prompts, checkboxes, mark-making, and short orientation statements.

You don't have to journal beautifully. You don't have to fill every page. And you definitely don't have to do it perfectly.

You're practicing something much simpler: noticing where you are, finding your bearings, and choosing a next step.

Because when intensity rises during birth, the goal isn't to suddenly remember everything you've ever learned.

It's to have practiced coming back to yourself enough times that you know how to begin.
